html5 format panorama output will be supported in next update of Panoweaver 7

By middle of December, 2010, next update for Panoweaver will be available. The most expected feature of publishing panoramas to html5 format will be supported in this panoweaver 7.20 version.

All existing customers pf panoweaver 7 will enjoy this update for free. Besides html 5 support, panoweaver 7.2 will also improve greatly in the following features:
* hdr panorama stitching. You can get hdr panorama with much higher quality.
* raw files stitching. This feature is also improved significantly.

How to Create HDR panorama with Panoweaver

In Panoweaver 6.0 Professional edition, there are two applications, one application is for stitching panoramas and export panoramas to full screen Flash VR, QTVR, and Java VR; the other application is for creating HDR photos.

First, import a group of images with different exposure values, like above screenshot.

Then click and a 32 bit HDR image is stitched. Select 8bit(LDRI) and adjust the Exposure and Gamma values:

Click Save and the HDR image is finished. If an HDR panorama is wanted, just import a group of panorama photos with different exposure values.

Panorama Photos and Virtual Tours

The following panoramic virtual tours are created with panorama software Panoweaver 6.00 and virtual tour software Tourweaver 4.00. Panorama photos are captured with Nikon D200 and 10.5mm lens, and then stitch with Panoweaver to spherical panoramas. Then they are imported to Tourweaver to create Flash panoramic virtual tours. Click each panoramic image to have a virtual visit to each tourist site.


	Zhoushan park, located in Zhoushan city of Zhejiang Province, is an ideal place for relax. It takes mountain as background, combining natual landscape of bamboo woods, spring and brooks. It is also a great place for taking team building activities.
	Xiangshan Film and TV city is located in Ningbo. Monolithic architecture has the style of the Song Dynasty combined with the natural landscape of mountains, rocks, caves, water and woods.
	Baishui Gully, located in Lin’an in the west suburb of Hangzhou is a biological tourist zone, 98 percent of which is covered by forests. The panorama series cover the waterfalls, ponds, bamboo woods and strange rocks in the zone.

	Wuzhen is a scenic town, located in the center of the six ancient towns south of Yangtze River, 17 kilometers north of the city of Tongxiang. Wuzhen is famous for its thousands of years of history.

Panoweaver 6.0 official version is released. Two editions are available, Professional and Batch editions.
Both editions can stitch spherical panoramas and cylindrical panoramas. Either fisheye photos or normal photos can be stitched.

Main new features:

Recognize lens type automatically.
Support normal lens and wide angle lens.
Support creation of cylindrical panorama.
Stitch multiple rows of images.
Support customization of the Loading Window for flash.

Batch edition has more advanced features like batch stitching multiple panoramas, batch publishing panoramas and batch converting panoramas from spherical to cubic and vice versa.

Stitch cylindrical panoramas with Panoweaver 6

In Panoweaver 6, cylindrical panorama stitching is supported. Let's see the stitching results of cylindrical panorama with Panoweaver 6.

Here is a group of images taken by Nikon D200, 17-200mm VR:

Import these wide-angle images into Panoweaver 6. Choose cylindrical panorama as the panorama type on the right, and set the desired panorama size. Then "Stitch".

When the stitching is finished, the panoramic image appears under the "Panoramic Image" tab.

Click "Save Panoramic Image" button to save the panorama as JPG, and a beautiful cylindrical panorama is stitched:

Then the panoramic image can be published as Flash VR, QuickTime VR, and Java virtual tour player. Before publishing, we can preview immersive view of the panorama under the tab "Panoramic Image":

The above is the auto-stitching procedure for obtaining a cylindrical panorama; Panoweaver also provides manual stitching, which means you can insert matching points to adjacent images. Manual stitching can be more accurate but takes longer time.

Equipment used: Nikon D80 and Sigma 8mm F3.5 lens.

This spherical panorama image is stitched by Panoweaver 5.00. Panoweaver not only stitches panoramas, but also publishes the panoramas in full screen Flash, QTVR and Java player.
Some important points that should be noted when shooting panoramas of car interior:

1. Because the space in the car is small and the light is dark, try to choose the photography time when the sunshine out of the car is ample, such as at noon. Utilize the natural light environment to assure even lights and never use the interior light.
2. Because the space in a car is very small, the tripod is not easy to stand evenly. Stretch out its fine legs if the tripod has or use a unipod.
3. To make the frontal seat visible, fix the camera as high as the head cushion of the seat. Better fix the camera before the center of the car to get a clearer sight of the car equipments, such as the car dial plate.
4. To avoid the image unreal, try to reduce the noise. And as the light contrast between the exterior and interior may be very large, enhance the value of the aperture (no need to the max, but to about 6.2) and shorten the shutter time (better less than 1/60 second). If the light in the car is enough, use M to adjust the exposal parameter.
